Brocia analyzes pillows and sleep gear using manufacturer specs and published research. We don’t run our own hands-on tests, and we say so. This page explains what we do instead.
How We Evaluate Products
1. Manufacturer Specs
We check the published details: dimensions, loft, materials, fill, firmness, and care instructions. Where a spec is missing or unclear, we say so.
2. Published Research
Health and sleep claims are linked to the study at the point of the claim. If we can’t find a source, we don’t state it as fact.
3. What ‘I’ Means in Our Articles
When you read ‘I ranked,’ ‘I compared,’ or ‘my analysis found’ in our articles, that’s the analyst’s voice reasoning from spec sheets and published research. It is not a claim of hands-on testing. We don’t sleep on the products; we analyze the evidence behind them, and we show our work so you can verify it.
4. No Numeric Star Ratings
You will not find a star rating or numeric score on any product we cover. A score implies we tested the product, and we do not. Publishing a number we cannot honestly derive would be worse than publishing no number, so we show our evidence instead: the specification we relied on, and the reasoning behind the verdict.
Every product card carries a Spec-verified badge. That badge means we traced the details on that card back to the manufacturer’s published specification or to a cited source. It is a claim about traceability, not about performance, and it is not a substitute for trying the product yourself. Where we could not verify a detail, we say so rather than rate it.
Published Research, Not Our Own Testing
We do not buy and sleep on the pillows we cover. Every recommendation is built from manufacturer-published specs and peer-reviewed research, cited where the claim is made. If we ever run our own hands-on tests, the protocol, the raw log, and photos will be published with the article.
How We Choose Products to Cover
We cover products based on reader interest, availability, and whether enough public information exists to analyze them properly.
Money and Independence
Brocia earns money from affiliate commissions and display advertising. Neither affects our rankings, verdicts, or which products we cover. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
